ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister’s Financial Advisor Shaukat Tarin has called on provincial governments to finalize the target price for sugar cane as soon as possible.

The adviser chaired a meeting of the National Price Monitoring Committee (NPMC), which was attended by Federal Minister of National Food Security and Research Syed Fakhar Imam, Minister of State for Information Farrukh Habib, adviser to the Prime Minister for Trade, Textiles and Investment Abdul Razak Dawood, Federal Secretaries, Managing Director (MD) Utility Stores, Provincial Chief Secretaries, Chief Statistician PBS, Chairman of the Pakistan Competition Commission (CCP), Member of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) and other senior officials attended the meeting.

The finance adviser expressed his deep concern at the large price differential for wheat flour in Sindh province compared to other provinces.

He asked the provincial chief secretary of Sindh to speed up the process of daily release of wheat at the price determined by the government in order to ease the pressure on prices.

The advisor reiterated the government’s strong commitment to ensure a steady supply of wheat flour throughout the country at the price specified by the government.

When examining the trend in commodity prices, Tarin said the government was taking a series of administrative, policy and relief measures to absorb the upward pressure on the prices of basic foodstuffs in the country. global scale. The Chief Secretary of the Punjab has informed the NPMC that the crushing of sugar cane will begin on November 15 in the Punjab.

The finance and revenue adviser has ordered the chief secretary of Sindh to ensure that the crushing of sugar cane begins as soon as possible in order to ensure a stable price of sugar across the country.

The councilor further called on all provincial governments to finalize the target price for sugar cane as soon as possible.

The Finance and Income Advisor asked the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) to do a province-by-province comparison of the weekly SPI.

The decision was made to analyze the price differential in SPI between provinces in order to differentiate the efforts of each province.

Balochistan’s chief secretary also stressed the need to expand USC outlets and establish cold stores in the province.

The adviser asked the relevant ministries to coordinate with the government of Balochistan to expedite the matter.

The Minister of State for Information stressed the need to increase attendance at Saasta’s bazaars, to ensure that the benefit reaches as many people as possible, and the Prime Minister’s advisor for finance asked provincial governments to strategize for the same.

In his closing remarks, the prime minister’s advisor on finance and income said the government was taking all possible measures to ensure a steady supply of basic necessities throughout the country.

The finance secretary informed the NPMC that the prices of sacks of wheat flour remained constant at Rs 1,100 per 20 kg due to proactive measures by the government of Punjab and the ICT administration.
