2022 promises to be a very special year in the long and extraordinary history of Terrot. Not only is the company celebrating its 160th anniversary, but it also expects to produce more machines under Terrot and the newly incorporated Pilotelli brand, at its headquarters in Chemnitz, Saxony, as at any time before. After a severe crisis in 2019/2020 amplified by an early hit from the Covid-19 pandemic and growth of nearly 50% in 2021, 2022 is shaping up to be a relatively successful year so far, with backlog growth orders in excess of 500 machines in the first 9 months and a pipeline amounting to roughly the same volume, planning projects for 2023 and 2024.

Dirk Lange, Managing Partner

While 2020 was dominated by single jersey machines, 2021 and the current year are mainly characterized by strong demand in the home textiles, mattresses and sportswear sector, both for mechanical machines and electronics. Importantly, all of this was achieved despite supply chain issues causing delays, the highest prices for commodities, raw materials and parts, especially electronic semiconductors, as well as transport and, lately, energy costs which have exploded. us like probably many others to breaking point. All of this would not have been possible without our staff who invest their passion every day in meeting the needs of our sophisticated customers and of course continued high demand for many successful machines with unique structural options, such as our extensive family I3P. But above all, we would like to thank the world’s leading textile companies and garment manufacturers who trust in the quality, productivity and flexibility of our machines. We greatly value the partnerships that have evolved from customer-supplier relationships over the years and decades.

Despite uncertainties stemming from the ongoing war in Ukraine and other geopolitical threads, demand remains stable in most regions. We watch any new developments with great caution and anticipate that new growth impulses will require an end to the conflicts mentioned above.

A continuous increase in the demand for high-end machinery as well as an ongoing transformation process in the textile sector, characterized by an increasing share of knitted fabrics, digitization and sustainability issues allow us to go from being a manufacturer of machines to a complete solution providing a partner to our existing and future customers.

From standardized machines for off-the-shelf requirements to highly customized machines for special designs and structures, so we offer the widest range of machine types for high-quality knitwear in a variety of gauges and achieve a truly customer-centric approach. flexible. Additionally, our machines easily integrate into smart factories by providing a fully interoperable “Network User Interface”. Remote service capability and new troubleshooting assistance software mark our move into the digital age.

Terrot successfully sells machines to more than 100 countries around the world. A network of more than 50 qualified sales offices guarantees close contact with customers and supports them by servicing existing machines as well as implementing and installing new machines and meeting their spare parts needs. . Our main markets are India, Uzbekistan and Turkey. But we also distribute a large quantity of machines to Europe, Asia and Latin America, which guarantees balanced commercial performance and avoids cluster risks.

The past year has also seen changes in the company’s shareholding structure with Managing Directors, Mr. Robert Czajkowski as CEO, and Mr. Dirk Lange, who joined Terrot in 2020 to become Managing Partners , ensuring not only continuity for years. to come, but also emphasizing the owner-managed tradition of this German machine builder.

New developments in the single and double jersey sector, consisting of high-end, high-efficiency machines with exceptional performance, maintenance and operating cost KPIs, as well as general improvements on our existing equipment are underway. . With new investments in machinery, software and optimization of production processes and the establishment of a new R&D entity which aims to serve as an agile hub for cooperations with innovative companies and research institutes of the whole world. We are eager to explore new developments in the fields of robotics, environmental technologies or textile software and we seize the unlimited opportunities presented to us. Together with our customers, we aim to explore the new horizons that this industry offers in the decades to come.
