The resulting material performs similarly to plastic-based synthetic fabrics such as polyester and nylon, which use petroleum-based fossil fuels to achieve performance benefits. The textile innovation was developed by Natural Fiber Welding, Inc. (NFW), a leading startup in sustainable materials science.
