These Surf Lodge-Inspired Cottages Just Opened in Maine
Travelers can eat their way through Biddeford, Maine – recently named one of America’s Next Great Food Towns by Food & Wine magazine — then stay at the city’s first boutique hotel in September.
The Lincoln Hotel, a 33-room downtown hotel housed in a 19th-century textile mill, opens September 1. It is within walking distance of many restaurants in town.
The hotel is operated by Atlantic Hospitality, which oversees The Wanderer, Sandy Pines Campground, Batson River Brewing & Distilling, and more. The Wanderer opened in Kennebunk on July 8.

Rooms with king and queen beds feature gas fireplaces, exposed brickwork, flat-screen TVs, and high ceilings that showcase the original wood beams. A peekaboo bathroom with Carrera marble is a signature feature in each room.
Guests can relax in the rooftop pool, which the hotel calls a first for a Maine city break. Pool-goers, who must be hotel guests, can enjoy a landscaped lounge with a tiki bar and 360-degree views of downtown.

Other hotel amenities include a lobby bar, library, lounge area, take-out cafe, shopping area with local artisans and rotating maker galleries, and a new Batson River Brewing & Distilling location.
Guests will find Batson River down a grand staircase from the hotel lobby, where more than 12,000 square feet of space is split between the brewery and a state-of-the-art fitness center.

Krista Stokes, Creative Director of Atlantic Holdings, partnered with Maine-based Hurlbutt Designs to create and furnish the hotel’s spaces, which are “designed with a timeless elegance that bridges old and new. for a true sense of belonging to the city,” according to the company.
The starting rate is $229 per night.
