The textile artist is organizing a series of Mindful Mending workshops at Belco Arts. The six-week course covers everything from basics and mending techniques to reusing and recycling fabrics in the home. “For me, as an artist, it’s about being part of the process of reviving old traditional points that unfortunately aren’t taught in schools here. So it’s about getting back to basics and reuse and rework fabrics, which we would normally put in charity bins or in the wheelie bin, “says Grewal.” I know for myself personally, I realized during the pandemic that we need to be more sustainable. And we have to be in a position where we can take care of ourselves, even when it comes to sewing the button on our shirt, for example. “The workshop runs Wednesday from 2:00 pm to 4:30 pm until August 18. To book, go to belcoarts.com.au. Participants are encouraged to bring any items from their own closet that need extra attention. ‘be fixed.
