I run extremely hot and start to sweat very easily. I wear a bandana pretty much everywhere I go in case I start to noticeably sweat, which is pretty much always during the summer months. I am also very hot at night and I hate night sweats. Unfortunately, I sleep with a partner who likes to be wrapped up like a burrito under as many blankets as possible, and it’s not easy to find bedding products that we both love. This duvet is the exception. More specifically, I am talking about the Coyuchi Organic Cotton Diamond-stitch Duvet.
I will say this: I tested a lot of products during my stay at Spy – massage guns, headphones, countless care products, sex toys, etc. I didn’t expect my favorite summer product to be a duvet, but the heart wants what the heart wants. Now, I wonder how I ever slept without refreshing duvets in the first place.
Coyuchi Organic Cotton Diamond-stitch Duvet
Seriously, I’m weirdly obsessed with my new Coyuchi comforter. While not specifically marketed as a cooling quilt, I have found it to be extremely light and airy even during the current heat wave. At the same time, my icy girlfriend is also happy. Below you will find my full review of the Coyuchi Diamond Stitched Organic Cotton Quilt, which is made from eco-friendly materials by one of our favorite summer direct-to-consumer companies. . We will also share some information about Coyuchi which may be new to you.
Coyuchi is the eco-friendly textile brand that will let you sleep like a baby at night
If you’ve been out or read the news recently, you might just feel like the world is on fire. This is because some parts are! I am writing this review on the first day of July and can already say that this summer has been really, really uncomfortably hot. And as shoppers look for ways to become more environmentally friendly and socially aware of their purchasing power, a growing number of companies are offering green products that help consumers sleep better at night – and I’m not talking about it. not figuratively.
Coyuchi is a California-based organic textile company that makes premium bedding and clothing with organic cotton and sustainable practices. Coyuchi was actually one of the first companies to introduce organic cotton linens. The company was founded 30 years ago in 1991 with a small California boutique before launching an online store. And as a direct-to-consumer company making eco-friendly duvets, sheets and towels, the company seems tailor-made for this particular moment in consumer history, when DTC brands like Brooklinen and Bloomscape are very popular. popular with trendy millennial shoppers.
Coyuchi isn’t just talking about being environmentally friendly. The company truly follows the latest sustainable practices and only uses cotton certified to the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS). And according to the company’s website:
Coyuchi invites customers to return old Coyuchi linens with a prepaid shipping label. Customers who do will save 15% on their next order, which means old linens don’t end up in landfills.
Coyuchi’s 2nd Home Renewed program recycles returned linens. So far, the company has recovered 34,694 pounds of fabric.
Coyuchi uses environmentally friendly packaging and ships its products in 100% organic fabric bags instead of plastic. The company is trying to become 100% plastic-free by 2022.
The company partners with factories that recycle 98% of their wastewater.
The brand is not as well known as brands like Avocado or Brooklinen, and I wanted to know if they had the merchandise. The company sent us a sample containing some of their bedding products, and we’ll share a few more reviews in the coming weeks.
What we loved about the diamond stitch organic cotton duvet
I absolutely fell in love with: the Coyuchi Organic Cotton Diamond-stitch Duvet. Like I said, I run extremely hot at night but I don’t like sleeping in the open. This comforter kept me cool and comfortable even as the temperatures here in Brooklyn got uncomfortably high. (My girlfriend, who falls asleep almost instantly, has also had a positive experience, and she’s kind of a blanket snob.)
First of all, Coyuchi really takes sustainability seriously. Each product they sent me arrived in a cloth bag, which appeared to be made from the company’s leftover cotton sheets. I did not find any pieces of plastic in the product packaging, which is extremely rare. The product itself is made from organic cotton wadding 360g / m². The fabric is Fairtrade certified and grown and woven in India.

Priced at $ 298 for a double / queen size duvet, the price is competitive compared to other high-end textile brands. Soft, light and fluffy, the duvet can actually be used as a blanket with or without the duvet cover, which is not included. This comforter was also designed for year-round use, and reviews on Coyuchi’s website rave about its ability to keep you warm in the winter and cool in the summer, which I can attest to.
Finally, unlike most duvets, the Coyuchi duvet is machine washable, which is a practical advantage.
What we didn’t like about the Coyuchi organic cotton duvet
The price can give some people a break. Unfortunately, organic fabrics and durability don’t always come cheap. That being said, for customers who plan to use it year-round, $ 300 is a pretty reasonable price for an eco-friendly product like this. That being said, the company’s duvet covers also cost between $ 238 and $ 298, so if price is an issue, it’s worth looking at the Coyuchi sale section or looking elsewhere for a duvet cover.
Secondly, if you plan to use it as a blanket or without a duvet cover, it is not as soft against the skin as some quilts or blankets we have used. We strongly recommend that you use this product with a duvet cover, like the one pictured below.
The verdict: a more than commendable investment
If you are looking for a comfortable comforter all year round, this is a great option. Best of all, it comes from a company that supports the environment with organic materials and sustainable business practices. As a direct-to-consumer business, you can purchase the Coyuchi organic cotton duvet and matching duvet covers from the brand’s online store. The duvet is available in Twin, Full / Queen and King sizes.
