German Sudwolle’s A/W 2023/24 collection promotes sustainability

The A/W 2023/24 collection launched by Südwolle, the world leader in worsted spinning, is sustainable, responsible, natural, recycled and efficient. The concept of seasonality in the A/W 2023/24 collection is increasingly blurred, in favor of more functional categories in terms of performance, durability, innovative content and style.

Südwolle collections are designed to express this new awareness, while supporting the changes taking place in the world, with conscious styling and materials suited to new lifestyles, the company said in a press release.

The collection includes OTW, Espresso TEX Nm 48/2, Rhein GOTSNm 64/1 and Nm 64/2, SRP ClarkNm 60/2, Rosvic Nm 40/2. The OTW line of weaving yarns made with Omega Twist technology, developed and patented by Südwolle Group, gives the yarns improved performance in terms of reduced pilling, greater elasticity, strength and durability.

Espresso TEX Nm 48/2 (100% untreated wool, 20.5 μ) was created to enhance the authentic natural character of wool. Made with undyed and untreated merino wool, it is a twisted yarn for weaving, ideal, for example, for suits and flannel jackets. It is available in 4 shades of brown obtained by mixing different percentages of untreated raw wool and naturally brown undyed wool.

Eolo Nm 24/2 (100% wool 20.5 µ) is an example of circular production and reuse of recycled wool in the Karma project. From internal pre- and post-production waste, a partly carded, partly combed product is created in the facilities of the Südwolle Group where this type of process can be carried out.

Rhein GOTSNm 64/1 and Nm 64/2 (100% wool 19.5 µ) is the new pure wool yarn with GOTS – Global Organic Textile Standard certification, which certifies its organic origin. Performance combined with reduced energy consumption is the added value of SRP ClarkNm 60/2 (48% wool 23.5 μ, 44% cationic polyester, 8% viscose Donegal), also available in a stretch version. Cationic polyester can be blend dyed with wool, making double dyeing unnecessary and thus saving water and energy consumption. Adding red, green or brown pre-dyed Donegal viscose to the blend creates a flowing look enhanced with a slub and micro-nep effect.

Rosvic Nm 40/2 (98% wool 19.5 μ, 2% Lycra44 dtex) is a twisted yarn with Basolan treatment for comfort fabrics. It has a lightly textured surface with a contrasting or tone-on-tone micro mouliné pattern.
