Foreign Post Benefits Diamond and Textile Sectors | Surat News

Surat: With the start of the new year Vikram Samvat, the Diamond City got wings to supply products to more than 139 countries at minimum cost.
Union Minister of State Devusinh Chauhan on Wednesday inaugurated a foreign post office to be provided by the Post Department.
Chauhan inaugurated the international business center of the post office under which the foreign post office will be provided. At the IBC, facilities such as packaging, reservation and customs documentation will be provided. Staff dedicated to this work will be deployed at the center.
This was a long overdue request by the Gemstone and Jewelry Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) and the Southern Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SGCCI).
The facility is likely to benefit small and medium-sized jewelry manufacturers and textile traders. At present, they have to send samples or small quantity finished orders by courier.
“Often the cost is too high and since there was no alternative, they have to spend the amount. But with the option of a post office, they can send small packages at an affordable cost, ”said Dinesh Navadiya, regional president of GJEPC.
Small diamond jewelry makers often receive orders for one or more pieces. “Right now they take the services of private courier companies. Couriers also do not deliver goods to a few countries while the Post has links to many countries, ”Navadiya added.
The post will prove to be beneficial for textile traders who send samples for examination to buyers abroad. This will lower their courier costs and increase their reach in many countries.
Union Textile Minister Darshana Jardosh said: “Prime Minister Narendra Modi implemented Gati Shakti Yojna in which 16 different departments were invited to work together for quick results through which many projects are implemented quickly. ”
Navsari MP and State BJP Head CR Paatil said, “The post office will benefit the city’s diamond and jewelry industry. The state government has also started air service between cities in the state, which will push development further.
