A huge explosion was reported to Jakharia Textiles, in Boisar MIDC on Saturday morning. Two workers were killed and five were injured in the incident and are being treated in private hospitals in Vasai and Boisar.
The explosion would have taken place in the boiler section. The Industrial Safety and Health Directorate (DISH), Vasai, has yet to determine the cause. The unit manufactured polyester, cotton and viscose blended fabrics, yarn dyeing, cotton linen, fabric yarn processing, fabrics and other textile products.
Manish Sawant, the Boisar MIDC fire station officer, said the fire was reported around 6 a.m. âWe got there and with the help of three tenders we put out the fire. Cooling operations are activated. The deceased workers were identified as Mithilesh Rajwanshi, 35, and Chottelal Saroj, 35, âChief Inspector Suresh Kadam said. The injured are Mukesh Yadav, Amit Yadav, Murli Gautam, Ganesh Patil and Umesh Ram, Kadam said.
Boisar MIDC police recorded one accidental death case and sent both bodies or postmortem. âWe will summon Nitin Keshavji Shah, general manager of the company registered in Bhiwandi, and then record a first briefing report,â Kadam said.
